Intellectual Development

Our students will learn key academic skills - like reading, writing and math - to encompass the knowledge and processes associated with intellectual development. As learners and meaning-makers, students take subject-specific concepts and content and transform them into a new understanding.

Goals

  • Improve student success in literacy.
  • Improve student success in numeracy.

School Plan Template - Blue Jay Elementary 25 26.docx

Changing Results for Young Learners (CR4YL) supports Blue Jay Elementary’s literacy plan by fostering collaborative inquiry among educators to improve early reading outcomes. Through cycles of reflection and evidence-based strategies, teachers deepen their understanding of each learner’s strengths and needs, ensuring responsive and personalized instruction. This approach emphasizes early intervention and aligns with our goals to:

  • Increase the percentage of K–3 students meeting or exceeding grade-level reading benchmarks

  • Strengthen phonemic awareness and decoding skills in early primary grades

  • Improve comprehension and vocabulary development through rich oral language and reading experiences

  • Build teacher capacity for differentiated instruction and targeted interventions

Together, these efforts promote equitable, high-quality literacy experiences for all students.

CR4LL Team Schedule will meet in the LLC from 12:15 to 12:55 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, November 18, Tuesday, December 2, Tuesday, January 20, Tuesday, February 24, Tuesday, March 31, Tuesday, May 19, Tuesday, June 2
