Proposed Boundary Review for Cooper Meadows & High Street Village

November 15, 2023

The Abbotsford School District has initiated a proposed boundary review for the Cooper Meadows Development and the High Street Village Development. These reviews seek to address changes in catchment boundaries resulting from significant residential projects, ensuring students continue to receive the best possible educational experience as our community grows.

Cooper Meadows Development

Cooper Meadows is a new housing development area with over 400 expected homes, located in the eastern part of the city along McMillan Road. It is a diverse community with different housing types and new roads, including a significant road extension. The school district is projecting around 150 school-age children to live here when it's fully developed.

The purpose of the proposed boundary change is to encompass the entire development property into the Margaret Stenersen Elementary, William Fraser Middle and Yale Secondary catchments and to direct any future enrolment from this development away from the school catchments that are part of the McKee Neighbourhood Plan area (Prince Charles Elementary, Clayburn Middle and Robert Bateman Secondary). If you are an existing Abbotsford School District family, this won’t affect your child’s school placement; the changes only apply to the new development area.

High Street Village Development

High Street Village is a new housing development area anticipated to include 700 townhomes and apartments, located in the western part of the city along Mt. Lehman Road at Cardinal Avenue, next to Highstreet Village Shopping Centre. The school district is projecting around 35 school-age children to live here when it's fully developed.

The purpose of the proposed boundary change is to encompass the entire development property into the Dave Kandal Elementary catchment. If you are an existing Abbotsford School District family, this won’t affect your child’s school placement; the changes only apply to the new development area.
