Welcome to a snowy Winter, Blue Jay families!

Weather reminder:

• As these joyful students are showing us, children love to play in the snow! Please ensure your child has an extra set of clothing (especially socks!) in their backpack in case they get wet.
• Remember to have your children dressed for the weather as we continue to play outside on school days.
• Thank you for safely getting your children to school, when possible. Please remember that the School District makes decisions that affect school closures for our city, but it is always your decision whether it is safe for you to get your children to and from school.

Shout Outs and Happenings from the Past Month:

• School basketball for all Grade 5 students continues, with playoffs quickly approaching. Thank you to Mrs. Edwards, Mr. Poffenroth and Mr. Melzer for all your help coaching at lunch and after school!
• Students enjoyed Pizza Day hot lunch on Jan. 17^th.
• Kindergarten Registration began on Jan. 20^th! If you have a child who will turn 5 years old by Dec. 31, 2025...It’s time to register them for Kindergarten! Please contact the office for registration information.
• We celebrated Lunar New Year as a school, with an outdoor parade and a Chinese food hot lunch on Jan. 29.
• Parent survey:
  If you haven’t done so yet this year, please take a moment to complete our 2-minute survey. Your feedback on one of our school goals about students belonging here at Blue Jay Elementary is appreciated. Please use the QR Code provided at the end of this newsletter.

PAC – Everyone is welcome
Our next PAC Meeting is this Friday, February 7th at 11AM! Please plan to attend to share your opinions and ask questions~Your input matters! Without parent volunteers, we cannot have PAC activities such as Popcorn Day, Movie night, or the Scholastic Book Fair.

Blue Jay Cookie Sale!

On Wednesday, February 12, Tim Horton’s sugar cookies are being delivered to students in their classrooms. Please order via School Cash Online. Cookies are $2.50 each and funds go toward classroom learning initiatives.

Blue Jay Hot Lunch Day #7 – Pizza!
On Friday, February 21st, we will have hot and delicious pizza slices for students. It is $2.00 per slice, and families can buy as many as they like. Please order through School Cash Online as we will not be accepting cash in the office. All proceeds go to the Grade 5 year-end field trip.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are quickly approaching on Feb. 19-20^th. Instructions will be sent home next week so you can sign up for a time that suits you. Please note that parents should enter through the main entrance to the school for interviews, as teachers will not be answering their exterior doors.
